How To Channel Safely and Consciously (and the 5 Potential Dangers to Avoid)

Channeling is allowing guidance, energy, and wisdom to flow through you. You may channel your higher self, guides, angels, and or the ascended masters. There are many different forms of channeling and some are safer than others. Channeling can be helpful to us as we bring through information that can be beneficial to ourselves as well as other. I first would like to discuss the pros, the cons and is it a safe practice?

We all channel whether we realize it or not. Channeling is the stream of consciousness which flows through us. Often the channeler steps to the side and gives permission for another entity to communicate through them for a short period of time. We all have randomly said things without consciously knowing where the information came from.We may receive information for ourselves or other people regarding the the next step to take or what may be seemingly random messages that have meaning to others. While many see this as a sought after gift, I caution those who seek to become channelers to not rush into the process without educating themselves and that they work with a mentor who can monitor their progress and keep an eye on them just in case any potential issues come up.

The Different Types of Channeling

  • Trance Channeling is a form of mediumship where an individual grants permission for an outside entity to take control of their body as an instrument for communication. During these sessions, the channel has no knowledge or recollection afterwards of what has transpired. He or she simply "goes away" and then returns when the body is fatigued or when the session is over. This type of channeling is the one that many people seek out but can be the most dangerous form of channeling to the channel. You run into the risking of allowing a negative entity to take over your body. I highly recommend working with a seasoned mentor if you are interested in this form of channeling.
  • Conscious Channeling is where the channel maintains conscious awareness of what is happening but allows another entity to bring messages through his or her body. At an time, the channel is free to edit material being presented, or to end the session when or if they feel uncomfortable with the information that is being offered.
  • Automatic Writing, Painting, or Musicianship is the most common form of channeling that most people are familiar with. The channel allows their body (either in a trance or consciously) as a vehicle to create artistically through music, artwork and or writing.
Why Channel?
  1.  To receive information and wisdom for the soul's evolution.
  2. To bring forth messages or validation, comfort and wisdom.
To prove that you are super-psychic, gifted or to receive attention from others are not valid reasons as to why one should channel. Bringing through messages that facilitate healing and the evolution of the soul for the highest and best good of all are excellent reasons why one would channel.

Well-Known Channels
  • Jane Roberts
  • Esther Hicks
  • Edgar Cayce
  • Sheila Gillette
Possible Dangers Associated with Channeling
  • You can easily fragment your soul as you come back to conscious awareness.
  • An entity can takeover and cause you to lose control of your body which would then result in possible spirit possession.
  • You run the risk of your body short circuiting as another energy enters your body, this can happen because your body was not created for another entity to inhabit it. Many trance channels have physical and mental difficulties as a result from channeling.
  • The entity you are channeling may not be telling the truth and can cause chaos in your life.
  • Many completely trust the information that other channels bring through simply because the person appears to be channeling. I caution everyone to use discernment when it comes to any entity that is telling people what to do. Always, always do an internal check to see if you are comfortable with the channel and the information, your instincts are always to be trusted.
How To Make Channeling a Safe Practice
  1. Attune to Your Highest! I agree 100% with Edgar Cayce as he emphasized the importance of attuning to the higher self while remaining conscious. In this way, any person can channel the high self while at the same time, access his or her own individual creativity and heightened experience of connection with the universe while remaining an individual.
  2. Educate Yourself - If you are interested in channeling, I highly recommend reading or taking Sandy Anastasi's System of Psychic Development, especially Level 4 if you are interested in learning how to channel safely with awesome results. Sandy's teachings provide the seeker with a solid foundation for psychic development as well as wonderful techniques to help you build your spiritual practice and gifts.

Enhance Your Intuition with Essential Oils

I use essential oils in just about every area of my life - for meditation, relaxation, in

healing applications, sanitizing rooms as well as helping with an occasional bout of insomnia. By using aromatherapy, you can enhance your intuition with essential oils. It is an easy and effective way to open up your psychic gifts.

In addition to using essential oils to enhance my intuition, I also use them to ground me so that I stay connected and focused with the earthly plane while having my intuitive channel open and bringing through through messages for my clients.

Essential oils usually provide you with instant results. As you breathe in the aroma, the fragrance moves through the sinus cavity which is right next to the third eye and brain.
Your reaction from the oil is so quick because the aroma doesn't have far to travel. Therefore, by using essential oils, you will experience immediate results.

Suggested Oils To Enhance Your Intuition

  • Patchouli
  • Blue Yarrow
  • Frankincense
  • Eucalyptus

  • Myrrh
Suggested Oils Used For Grounding

I usually apply the grounding oils to the bottoms of my feet as my energetic anchor.

Different Methods of Using Essential Oils To Activate Your Third Eye
  • Place a drop or two on the crown chakra, the third eye chakra, temples, and or on the heart chakra.
  • In an oil diffuser.
  • Place a few drops in a bowl of water next to you.
  • On a cotton ball, then putting the cotton ball in your air filter.
  • Place a drop or two in the palms of your hands, rub your hands together, then breathe in the aroma Instantly you will feel your third eye open up.
  • Wear a locket that has a chamber for essential oils around your neck.
  • Anoint a white or purple candle with your favorite psychic oil.
  • Add a couple of drops of oil to your bath water. (Be sure to check to see make sure you are not allergic to the oil)
Before using any essential oil, please make sure you thoroughly read the labels and do your own investigation on the product to be sure the quality is of a higher grade so you do not experience a rash or allergic reaction to the oil. Some oils are of a synthetic quality and some people are extremely sensitive to different blends or single oils.

Save A Relationship or Two - Speak Up!

Many misunderstandings occur when two people are in conversation and something is said by one of the parties that ruffles the other person's feathers. In that exact moment, the receiver of the message has the opportunity to clear the air by asking the question, "May I ask what you meant by that comment or statement?"  In the heat of the moment, you may not have had time to process what was said during the conversation. Afterwards some things may not be sitting well with one or both of the parties. The negative ego is now turned loose and most likely do it's "thing" causing the person to jump to unnecessary conclusions.

*The photo to the right is angelite. Carry angelite with you to assist with clear and loving communication. It aligns you with your guides, angels and higher self.*

Sometimes, what happens later is our mind or negative ego feeds on the past experience causing it to grow and become distorted. We may even take the experience a step further by asking others what they think the other person meant. We are now making the situation into a bigger situation by involving others who may not have been there to experience the tone as well as the back and forth discussion. Not only were they not there, but they are relying on the relay of information from only one of the parties. We now have a potential toxic situation that is now growing and becoming almost unrepairable because someone did not stop in the moment to ask the simple question, "What exactly do you mean by that statement?

The negative ego is an interesting challenger. It will activate our fears and make them real. It will embellish harmless situations and destroy relationships. As an intuitive counselor I hear about these scenarios all the time. To be honest, once the seed of doubt comes in and feelings are hurt, it is almost impossible to go back to the trusting, friendly and loving space you were once in with the relationship in question.

My advice is to speak up, ask for more clarity in the moment, even if you are afraid to do so. You may been misinterpreting in the moment because of a limited belief or view on life. It is also quite possible that you received the message exactly how it was meant to be received which in that case, you still do not have to play the guessing game later on by asking for clarity DURING the conversation.

If we, as a collective, were more proactive with our relationships we would not have to have so much disharmony and drama in our lives. Once you have had a taste of a drama-free life, you don't want to go back to unfulfilling and toxic relationships and lives. It is also quite possible that someone is misinterpreting you which in that case be aware of other's reactions when you are engaging in conversation. Be proactive and be sure they understand what you are trying to convey as a though form. If we listen and observe body language and conversation we will be better communicators and listeners.

Healthy relationships take two willing parties. Be proactive, be responsible and mean what you say and say what you mean. The more you take responsibility for your own interactions in your relationships, less challenging ones will be coming your way because you have mastered the art of clear and concise communication.

Blessings and Light,
Laurie

Let's Talk Time Management - Don't Let Your Life Pass You By!

Where the heck did the time go?

I simply do not have enough time in the day!

Time is disappearing.

I need more help.

I am struggling to just keep up.

I wish there were more than 24 hours in a day.

Let's face it, you probably have uttered at least one of the previous statements. Well, I know for sure I have. We have too many irons in the fire and are spending most of our time just trying to catch up so that we don't completely drop the ball and are experiencing frustration, being overwhelmed and missing out on a whole lot of life.

As a society, we are so focused on the next big thing, what we still have to finish up or what is going to happen in the future that we are overlooking the beauty and joy in the present moment.

Our journeys are not about the end result, the scenery can be absolutely breathtaking and most of us are not allowing ourselves the time to stop and take it all in. Even taking in the chaos and the disappointment helps add to our life experience. I know I say this often, but how can we know joy if we haven't known disappointment and dissatisfaction.

In my honest opinion, it is not important to figure out how we got to be such a rushed society that multitasks all day long. I too have been guilty of living a busy and hurried life. Many opportunities reveal themselves on a daily basis and I have several businesses that keep me busy. However, over the past few years I have been able to reorganize my thoughts, routines and priorities and have been able to create balance between career and personal life.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day and in those 24 hours we can learn how to enjoy our lives as we delegate, organize, stick to schedules, use timers and learn how to say no.

Here are some of my suggestions to help you take back your life or how to begin a new one:

  • Limit your time on social media! How many times do you check your Facebook or Twitter accounts? If you are working on a project, do your best to not log into any social media accounts. Set a timer as to how long you will allow yourself for the project that day and stick to the project at hand without any outside influences.
  • Put the mobile device down. When you have a deadline or are involved in a job that requires your attention, put down the phone. You don't need to check your texts or emails all day long.
  • Speaking of emails, limit how many accounts you need and check email once or twice a day.
  • Saying "no" will save you headache, heartache and possibly will save a relationship or two. If you graciously say no and someone does not understand then there is a lot more going on there and by saying no you brought some issues to the surface.
  • Make to-do lists daily that are reasonable as to what you can accomplish that day.
  • Schedule social dates with yourself and others and stick to them. Make time for play!
  • Delegate whenever and wherever possible.
  • Be willing to be flexible with your plans. Sometimes spirit has surprises in store for us when we are willing to follow spirit's lead and readjust our paths.
  • Reward yourself every time you have completed a job or to-do. Why not reward yourself? It makes the dedication and hard work worthwhile.
  • If you need to wake up 5,10 or even 25 minutes earlier so you are not rushed during the day.
  • Meditate, by adding meditation into your day you will be less stressed out and you will be able to go with the flow more easily.
  • Put some of your ideas and projects on the shelf and revisit them in the future.
  • Make lists of what is important and what can wait by priorities. By taking a look at your schedule you may be able to eliminate some things in your life that are really irrelevant at this time but you keep carrying on because you did not take the time to prioritize.
  • No work-related activities at least 2 hours before bed. Allow your mind to shift into relaxation mode. This will help you keep healthier boundaries with yourself.
What is the rush? If you are rushed and hurried, is it because of the time restrictions you put upon yourself? If so, then guess who you may have to have a serious talk with? You got it, yourself. If you are missing out on your life, it may be time to shake things up, don't you agree? Give my suggestions a try. You may find yourself enjoying even the busyness of your life and you also might find extra time here and there in your day :)

Blessings and Light,
Laurie

Fears - Where The Heck Do They Come From and How Do You Get Rid of Them?

Fear is the number one obstacle that we create to stop ourselves from manifesting a happy, joyful, abundant and healthy life. If you are breathing, trust me you have some fears here and there that pop up seemingly out of nowhere.

What is fear and is is always a negative emotion?

Fear is an emotion, a state of being that can stop a person dead in their tracks. It is the negative ego or the part of the personality that is insecure, has an insecure sense of self as well as is a limiting state of being.
Fear comes up when one lacks faith and trust in their own divine right and abilities and if not worked through thoroughly one will never be able to achieve the blessings that life has to offer that individual.
Fear can be a useful emotion when it comes to survival. It may be what holds one back when there is danger nearby. The key is to move through the fear with understanding the triggers and being open to solutions or applications that one may not be familiar with.

Where do they come from? There are many sources that your fears may be a result of.
Here are some examples:

  • Past life experience
  • Upbringing, being passed down from parents
  • Trauma
  • Low self-esteem
  • Lack of faith or trust
  • Victim consciousness
  • Core issues that have never been dealt with
These are just a few possible sources fears may have sprouted from.

Know that you may never be able to pinpoint exactly where your fear came from however, you can most certainly work through these triggers and lead a productive and happier life.

Suggested Solutions:
  • Past Life Regression
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Therapy
  • Soul Retrieval
  • Meditation
  • Soul Coaching
  • Redirecting your thoughts and reprogramming them at the same time
  • Meditation Cd's such as Kelly Howell or The Monroe Institute
  • Affirmations
  • Journaling
There are so many more resources, I suggest you at least try to recognize a fear, do your best to redirect the fear, and seek trusted outside help to help you work through your fears. Sometimes a lot of emotion is stirred up and it is best for someone to help keep an eye on you just in case you find yourself stuck and unable to move forward.

In my opinion, we have all come hear with our own "Bag of fears" yet we do not have to hold onto those fears forever!!

Blessings and Light,
Laurie
